Bluesy Bass Walks
In this
lesson you're about to learn a 12 bar blues guitar
pattern using a simple but great sounding blues
walk. This is also known as a Bass Walk because
of the use of low single notes that are often used
in blues bass patterns - the foundation of blues
rhythm. This lesson's in the key of E.
Bars
1-4 of a 12-Bar Blues:
The first 4 bars of a 12
bar blues are in the key of the I chord (E
in this case).
Bars
5-8 of a 12-Bar Blues:
Bars 5 and 6 are the IV
chord (A
in this case). Bars 7 and 8 are the I
chord again (E).
Bars
9-12 of a 12-Bar Blues
(Turnaround):
The last 4 bars of a 12-bar blues
are known as the Turnaround.
Bar 9 is the V chord (B),
bar 10 is the IV chord (A),
bar 11 is the I chord (E),
bar 12 is the V chord (B).
