Pachelbels Canon
In D
Canon
in D by Johann Pachelbel was written over 300
years ago and has become very popular in modern
times. Canon in D major is Pachelbels most well
known piece and is often played at weddings and
graduation ceremonies. The opening chord progression
and melodies are instantly recognizable in this
famous classical piece.
Canon Theory
In music
theory a Canon means that a main melody (the 8 chord
progession in this case) is followed by counterpoint
melodies that imitate the original melody. The parts
are layered over each other, beginning with the
main melody. Pachelbel's Canon in D is made up of
a repeating 8 chord progression: D A Bm F#m G
D G A.

as pianos, organs, harps - and now electric guitars
to give us the amazing Canon Rock! This video begins
with an acoustic Canon intro, then moves to an electric
intro solo, then the powerchord rock progression
and finally the canon solo melodies. This video
